Greetings,

I thought it would be rude not to post an introduction as a new member of your forum, and a member of your sister Regiment across the Atlantic.

My name is Robert Cowan, although most people call me Bob. I am a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (or CFAV) of the Black Watch Battalion, Army Cadet Force (The Royal Regiment of Scotland). It is in this capacity that I also have the honour to serve as the Bandmaster of the Regimental Band. It is this group of young men and women who are responsible for carrying on the long tradition of military music within the Black Watch, working alongside our Pipes and Drums.

With the demise of the regular military bands, and the restructuring into the Royal Regiment of Scotland, we are the only Military Band in the UK who still wear the Red Hackle, and as the only ACF Military Band in Scotland we continue the proud tradition of martial music in the Scottish Regiments, alongside the Regular Band and the two Territorial Bands.

So, I bring greetings as a fellow Black Watch, and wish you all the best in your 150th Anniversary Year.

Yours,

Robert
