Regret to notify you of recent passing of this soldier who served in Korea with Second Battalion.

Ralph Byron Yerxa
1922-2010


The passing of Ralph B. Yerxa of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday August 15, 2010. He was 87. Born in Queensbury, NB, he was a son of the late Hartley and Georgia (Palmer) Yerxa. A member of the Anglican Church of St. Peter, as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 for 65 years. Ralph worked for Vincent Kelly at Fernehill Farm, and was in the North Shore Regiment, Black Watch and served overseas during WW11 with the 3rd Infantry.

Survived by his brother Donald (Jessie) of Scotch Lake; sisters Harriet (Harding) Stairs of Lakeville Corner, and Carole Cantle (Roy) of Rusagonis; nephew/son Stephen Yerxa (Marcel); niece/daughter Marianne MacDonald (George); several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by brothers Glenwood and Gilbert, sisters Kay, Marion and Gladys.

Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road where visitation will take place on Wednesday August 18, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

The Funeral service will be held on Thursday August 19, 2010 from the Church of St. Peter, Springhill, NB at 2 PM with Rev. Dr. Ross Hebb officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Church of St. Peter Building Fund or charity of the donors choice.

The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute service 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
