William Leroy Wellwood
February 2, 1934 ~ July 8, 2022 (age 88)

It is with heavy hearts the family of William Leroy Wellwood, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather announces his passing on Friday, July 8th, 2022.
He was a retired officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and a proud member of the Black Watch. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he served in many positions including Sargent at Arms. He was a participating member of the Masonic Lodge for many years. Some of his favourite pastimes were hunting, fishing with his wife Ethel and son William where his main goal was to shoot the bigger buck. He was also known to many friends and acquaintances as the “Midnight” farmer and “Santa”.
In addition to his loving wife of 69 years Ethel (Medicraft) he is survived by daughters Linda Wellwood South Alton, Susan Ryan Burton, Sharon Yeomans (Robert) Saint John, Cynthia Gast (Harold) Burton, Donelda Wellwood, Oromocto, William A R Wellwood (Anna) Sioux Lookout, ON., several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sisters Patricia, Faye, brother Robert (Rose). He was predeceased by father Anthony Wellwood, mother Vera (Coleman) (Chapelle) (Wellwood) Coughlin, step father Daniel Coughlin, sisters Prudence, Juanita, Caroline, Matilda, and brothers Junior and Marshall We will forever hear his favourite phrase “carry on” and we hope he is doing just that in heaven with his family.
Arrangements are under the Professional Care of Sunbury Funeral Home. There will be no services held at this time as requested. Donations can be made to The Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice. Condolencesunburyfuneralhome.com
