Black Watch and RCR friends:

Regret to report the passing of John Hampsey earlier this week in Kentville, NS.

John completed his basic training in The Black Watch Depot in 1958 and from there was posted to 1st Battalion RHC. He deployed to West Germany with 1RHC in 1959, returned to Gagetown with the unit in 1962, and deployed to Cyprus with it in 1967. In 1970 he re-badged and was posted to 2nd Battalion, The RCR.

Obituary of POSTPONEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT –

John James Hampsey

1936 - 2020

** Please be advised that all services for John Hampsey are postponed until a later date to be announced, due to health concerns surrounding the
Coronavirus pandemic.**

John James Hampsey, 83 of Aylesford, passed away on April 13, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Tony) Hampsey.

John enjoyed and excelled in a number of sports including; softball, golf and bowling. He also represented Nova Scotia many times in Provincial 5 Pin Bowling competitions. It was rumoured that he could play a mean game of Auction 45 and was the Cribbage Champion of Aylesford. He loved to cheer the Toronto Maple Leafs on.. win or lose.. as well as being an avid Blue Jays fan.

John was a wonderful father to his children and the greatest Grampa to his grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart.

John is survived by his son Steven; daughters Lisa and Marla; he was blessed with four grandchildren Kyle Hampsey, Megan Hampsey, Brittney Ward and Courtney Ward; sister Theresa Brown; brothers Eric Hampsey and Jim Hampsey.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Norma (Harvie) Hampsey; son Kevin; brother Patrick; sister Joyce; and granddaughter Ashley Hampsey.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been postponed until a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital or Hope for Wildlife. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street, Berwick, NS, B0P 1E0 (902-538-9900).
