Obituary of James Ronald Burke

James Ronald Burke, decorated soldier and devoted husband and father, died suddenly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 20, 2019 at the age of 75.
“Jimmy” was a line infantry member of the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada (The Black Watch) and was called to peace keeping duty in Cypress in 1965, leaving his young bride, Michelle, expecting their first child. After 18 years of service and travelling the world, he left the military and settled his small family (they were blessed with a second child in 1975) in Saint John, living out the rest of his career as a Local 131 Heat and Frost insulator.
Deeply devoted to his wife of 54 years, Jimmy had a passion for food and loved to put on a feast for anyone who happened to drop by. He often catered family celebrations but his most proud culinary moment came when he had the opportunity to bake for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Michelle; daughter Melissa (Paul) Jensen; son Jamie (Dale) Burke; and grandchildren Alisha, Ryan and Nick. He will also be fondly remembered by many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
We will deeply miss his mischievous grin, his laugh, and his wonderful way of lavishing us with love through food.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). As per Jimmy’s request, there will be no visitation. A funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from Holy Redeemer Church at 12:00 PM. Donations in Jimmy’s memory can be made to the Romero House. Online condolences may be made at www.BrenansFH.com
