I remember Gord when we did the trooping and he was one of those they called a retread. He came and practiced with us and at the last minute was told he could not troop with us because of his age etc. He came into our barracks that night and had a talk with a bunch of the guys he had trained/rehearsed with, and once he had finished his say there was not a dry eye in the rom. He told us present that he loved us and respected all of us because we accepted him as one of ours, and at no time did any one refer to him as the old guy or retread or any other name. He thanked us for treating him as one of the guys and told us that he loved us for the respect we showed him and the fact he was accepted as one of the boys and felt the love and respect every one showed him as he came and practiced with the regiment. His talk to us was one of the highlights of the trooping. What a gentleman and awesome man and member of the regimental family..I still look back on those days with the regiment with fondness and gratitude that I was allowed to be part of the event...There are so many things that make up a mans life and remembrance .. my time with the regiment is something that I will always cherish and remember with fondness
