Black Watch Friends:

Regret to report the recent passing of Merle Bigger in McAdam, New Brunswick.

Merle served with First Battalion in Aldershot and Germany. Several of Merle’s brothers also served in the Regiment, including Gary who attended the Atlantic Branch AGM in Summerside.

Merle Kevin Bigger
1933-2014

(April 9, 1933 - February 25, 2014)

Merle K. Bigger, son of the late Robert and Jean (Sharpe) Bigger, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam, NB.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Avis (Charters) Bigger; two daughters, Joanne Gillespie (Richard), Harvey Station, NB and Jeannie Bigger, McAdam, NB and a son, Jim Bigger (Heather), Moncton, NB. Merle adored each of his grandchildren, Samantha Bigger, Chris and Clara Bigger, Noah and Kyle Gillespie. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Stafford, St. Stephen, NB and two brothers, Vaughn Bigger (Roma), Vanceborough, Maine and Gary Bigger (Viola), McAdam, NB; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers James, Cecil, Ersyl, Elwin, Walter, Gerald and Keith (Arlie) and sisters, Kathleen, Eunice and Phyllis.

There will be no visitation or funeral service at Merle’s request. A family prayer at burial will be held at a later date at Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Merle, the family has suggested the Harvey Settlement Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
