William J. "Scotty" Sinclair
1934-2013

It is with great sadness that the family of William J. "Scotty" Sinclair of Fredericton, NB announce his sudden passing, at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 8, 2013. He was 78.
Born on August 9, 1934 in Scotland, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Sutherland) Sinclair. Scotty was a member of the Presbyterian Church as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, a past member of the St. Andrew’s Society and the Black Watch Society.
Very proud of his Scottish heritage, Scotty enlisted in the British RAF for two years, before coming to Canada and arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax in 1956, from there he joined the Black Watch at C.F.B. Gagetown. Following his military career he was employed with the City of Fredericton, Trees Division where he was known as the Tree Surgeon. Scotty was one of the last of his kind to climb with spurs and ropes, saw in hand, toppling the tallest trees and swinging from butt to butt, bringing it down to nothing left but a stump.
He is survived by his wife Mona (Melanson) Sinclair; children John, Hughie (Danielle), and Fiona Sinclair (Vance) all of Fredericton; 4 grandchildren Alexander, Danielle "Dolly", Evan and Aidan "Wee Chip"; special daughter Heather Ann her husband Jan; brothers Archie (Aileen) and Derek (Lexy); sisters Babs (Hamish) and Bunty (Farquar); many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Elma (John), a brother Gerald, and nephew Kevin.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will take place on Monday, August 12, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM A funeral service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday August 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev, Basil Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery. A Legion tribute will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 PM.
