Regret to announce the passing of Freeman Forrest earlier this week in Kentville.

Freeman served with Second Battalion in the late 1950s and 1960s.

1933-2012

Freeman George Forrest - 78, of Kentville, Kings County, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at home. Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late David and Dorothy (Veinot) Forrest. He had served with the Black Watch Regiment and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 41 years. He retired from Canard Poultry. He is survived by his wife, Celia Maie Bond; one daughter, Sherry (Danny) Sullivan, Coldbrook; one son, Freeman Jr. (Kim Misner), Kentville; one sister, Dorothy Locke, Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Brett, Tanner, Sean, and Xander. He was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth, Agnes, and Bernice; two brothers, David (died overseas during the Second World War) and Alex. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. A combined Royal Canadian Legion and Graveside Service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
