HonCol Invitation to Army Run Print E-mail

We received the following from the Honorary Colonel:

As an eternal optimist, I have registered for the Half-Marathon in the Army Run, being held in Ottawa on September 18, 2011.

I think it would be a great occasion in the lead-up to our 150th Celebrations to make a bit of a Black Watch event of it. Therefore, please consider this as a personal invitation from the Honorary Colonel to all members of the Regiment, and the Regimental Family, to join him in the half-marathon of the Annual Army Run in Ottawa this September. I would be grateful if you could provide wide dissemination of this invitation to all members.

For information, the registration fee is $85 with slight additional charges for engraving of the dog-tag medals, taxes, etc.

By way of encouragement, the Hon Col will buy the beer after the race for all soldiers that beat his time! I am hoping to come in under two hours.

Please note that there is a cap on the number of participants, and I understand that the run is now about 75% sold out, so time is of the essence. Perhaps you will be able to provide some limited logistical support, such as transport on the day, which would be appreciated.

For those more sensible that me, the Army Run includes a 5Km run/walk ($40.00), for which an enthusiastic invitation is also extended to all members of the Regimental Family to join in.

I look forward to a typical Black Watch response, and a fun event in Ottawa in September. The Mission is to start as a noticeable Black Watch mob, and to finish as small gaggles, much like Pathfinders, but faster!

Thanks.

Yours aye,

Dan

Col D.F. O'Connor, CD
Honorary Colonel
Black Watch (RHR) of Canada
