Historical Research/Visitation

The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada Regimental Archives are open to members of the academic and military community, as well as interested members of the general public. Please contact the Museum and Archives coordinator at 514-496-1686 ext 230 or at by e-mail to discuss your area of interest and make an appointment. As our Archival finding aides are works in progress, please allow for a reasonable delay while we search through our holdings and prepare documents for your visit. Please note that the Regimental Archives are not publically funded and depend largely on your contributions to remain accessible. A donation to the Museum Fund would be greatly appreciated to offset the costs of preparation and staffing the Regimental Archives. Copies of documents are available upon request, but relevant charges will apply.

Personnel Records

Personnel records represent roughly one third of the holdings of the Regimental Archives. The collection is at its most comprehensive for the 1910-1950 period, although we do hold limited personnel records from outside that range. The staff of the Museum and Archives would be happy to search through the Regiment’s personnel record collection on your behalf and mail you copies or summaries of the relevant documents. Because of the number of requests for personnel records received by our staff, we ask that you, download, fill out and mail in this form . This greatly expedites the searching process. Note: You must have Acrobat Reader to read the form. Acrobat Reader is available here.

Featured Content
