Dear friends,

Welcome to The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada website. During your visit you will discover the exceptional history of this Canadian infantry unit. From the professionalism and dedication of our Soldiers that are fighting in Afghanistan, to their forefathers who volunteered to take arms to protect their homeland in the early years of the Regiment’s history, there are countless tales of valour and sacrifice in the defence of Canadian values and in making the world a better place. From the distant lands of South Africa, the fierce fighting in the trenches of WW1 and battlefields of Western Europe, to the sands of Afghanistan, the members of the Black Watch accomplished their duty with gallantry and were often the players of innumerable acts of courage and abnegation.

While browsing through our history, take some time to think of the men and women in uniform who left their home through history or who are still deployed in harm's way across the globe. These outstanding members of our communities made the choice to actively engage in helping their fellow humans and uphold our ideals. We, of the Black Watch, are bound by the same willingness to serve our country and our community. The members of our Regimental family are all exceptional citizens of Canada who deserve our respect and gratitude.

As the celebration of the 150th anniversary of our Regiment is coming in 2012, I think that there is no better time to pay adequate tribute to these outstanding men and women who have answered the call of duty.

Thank you for your support and I hope you will find your visit enjoyable.

Nemo me impune lacessit

Lieutenant-Colonel Bruno Plourde, CD
Commanding Officer
The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada
