Black Watch and RCR friends:
Regret to report the passing of Laurie Dirks on 10 January 2021 in Calgary, Alberta
Laurie was one of the originals with First Canadian Highland Battalion / First Battalion, The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada where he was renowned for his athletic ability – especially on the ice. His leadership capabilities were equally acknowledged with his steady promotions to Master Warrant Officer by 1970 when he re-badged to 2RCR as CSM A Company. In 1976 he was appointed Regimental Sergeant Major of Third Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment. He completed tours in Germany with 1CHB and 1RHC, and in Cyprus with 1RHC and 3RCR.
