A soldier died today!
Black Watch & RCR Friends:

Regret to report that Wish Frampton passed away this morning – just six short weeks after his wife, Marie.
Wish was one of the original Regular Force Black Watch soldiers. In Corner Brook at 19 years of age in 1952, he enlisted in the Canadian Army Regular and was assigned to the Canadian Highland Battalion in Camp Aldershot, NS as a member of The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Later that year he was shipped to Hannover, Germany as a replacement in First Canadian Highland Battalion (1CH. Wish returned to Canada and Camp Aldershot with the battalion in 1953 when the unit was re-designated First Battalion, The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada (1RHC). By this time, Wish had gained a spot on the battalion hockey team as well as the soccer team
Wish returned to Germany with 1RHC in 1959, and then back to Canada – CFB Gagetown this time – in 1962. He went to Norway with the battalion in 1965 and to Cyprus in 1967/68. Like many members of 1 and 2RHC, he re-badged to Second Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (2RCR) in 1970 and remained with 2RCR until his retirement from the CAF in 1984. He had served for over 30 years with many of the same people in essentially the same infantry battalion.
In retirement, Wish remained very active in the activities of the Black Watch Association, Atlantic Branch, where his energy and good humour were welcomed and much appreciated.
Wish and Marie will be missed by all of us remaining.
Aloysius "Wish" Frampton
1932-2020

It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Aloysius Frampton on November 27th, 2020 at York Care Centre. Aloysius Frampton, also known as Wish or Uncle Wish to all his friends and family, was born in Cornerbrook NFLD, August 3rd, 1932.
He was married to Marie Rachel Samms for 63 years, the love of his life, who pre-deceased him last month. Wish was survived by his sisters Nell and Mary; his son John (Karen); daughters Florence (Mal), Sharon (Peter), Dianne (Gerard) and Gail (Phil); grandchildren Marcie, Melinda, Dwight, Sara, Samantha and Jamie; as well as his great grandchildren.
Wish was in the army for 30 years and proudly served with the Black Watch. Wish was the life of a party. He loved people and dogs. In his younger years he played soccer and hockey. He loved to fish, hunt and go camping. He golfed, curled, square danced, cross country skied, played darts and loved a good game of cards. At Christmas time he dressed up like Santa for the kids and was loved by all. He loved to cook and entertain. He volunteered with the Boyscouts, the Poppy campaign and helped with the Veterans.
Due to the restrictions surrounding COVID-19 there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at a later date.
For those who wish, memorial donations in Wish’s memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
