Regret to inform you of recent passing of Lloyd Acker.
Lloyd served with 1st Battalion in Germany and Cyprus ’67.

Lloyd William Acker
1919-2010


The death of Lloyd William Acker occurred at the Veteran's Health Unit in Fredericton, NB on Friday, April 16, 2010. Born in Springfield, NS, he was the son of the late Irvine and Eva (MacDonald) Acker and the husband of the late Laura Acker.

Lloyd was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Black watch. He served in Germany and as a UN Peacekeeper in Cyprus, Greece and Egypt. Following the war, he was employed with the Maintenance Department on Base Gagetown and then retiring as a Commissionaire from the base as a member of the Corps of Commissionaires. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93. He enjoyed working in his garden and around his home, and spending time with his children and grand-children.

Survived by daughters, Linda Carr (Ronald) of Fredericton, NB, Rose-Ann Knowles (Don) of Ottawa, ON and Brenda Barry (Brendan) of Estey's Bridge, NB; son, Barrie (Marilyn) of Lincoln, NB; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; half brother, Roy Dorey as well as his sisters, Hazel Murphy, Greta Crouse, Florence Demone and Iona Miller.

Predeceased by his parents; wife, Laura; son, Wayne; brothers, Lester, Kelvin and Bedford and one sister, Vivian.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home (357-5100) on Sunday, April 18th, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service at 7 pm on Sunday evening. The funeral service will be held in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 19th, 2010 at 11 AM Rev. Keith Howlett officiating. Interment will take place in the Geary, French Lake, Waterville Memorial Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes in Lloyd's honor may be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
