Black Watch and RCR friends:

Regret to report the passing of Rabbit Sinclair in Saint John, NB on Christmas Eve.
Rabbit (the name by which he was widely known) was one of the characters of 2nd Battalion RHC and one of the originals. He joined the Seaforth Highlanders and became a member of 2nd Canadian Highland Battalion which was re-designated 2nd Battalion RHC on the ship to Korea in 1953. In Korea he was assigned to ‘A’ Company which was commanded by Captain H.J. Harkes, MC, CD.
Rabbit remained with 2nd Battalion when it returned to Canada/Camp Aldershot in 1954 and subsequently re-located to Camp Gagetown in 1958. He accompanied the Battalion to Germany in 1962, back to Gagetown in 1965, and on its United Nations peacekeeping tours on Cyprus in 1966 and 1969/70. In 1970 he re-badged to 2RCR.

Rabbit was a staunch member of The Black Watch Association and rarely missed a reunion of the Atlantic Branch in Camp Aldershot.

Lem Sinclair
"He stopped loving her today." A quote from one of our dad’s favorite songs. And while it may be true in this world, it most certainly opens him up to loving her throughout eternity.
After a brief illness in the Saint John Regional Hospital, our Dad - Lem Sinclair (Rabbit to his friends) chose Christmas Eve, December 24, 2017 to join our mom up in heaven where we are sure they are dancing together once again reunited. And oh could they dance. For many years, Rabbit & Norah were the two who when dancing together, many found hard to take their eyes off as they glided around the floor to their favorite classic country music. It brings us comfort to think they are once again dancing together.
Lem was born in Balsam Bay, Manitoba on March 8, 1933 to parents Solomon and Virginie (Mercredi) Sinclair. He left at a young age to become a career soldier - his military career spanning from February 1953 until he retired in February 1985.
He loved being a military man, especially being a part of the Black Watch. He attended all the reunions, and marched in many parades even after retirement as a Korean War Veteran and as a Black Watch member. Lem was a Friday night regular at the Oromocto Legion, and will be missed by many who know him better as Rabbit.
Lem leaves behind his children, Richard Sinclair, Beth (Barry) Crowell, and Brenda (Bobby) Crook. Also his grandchildren, Sarah (Jesse) Jones and Samantha Crook. Lem was predeceased by his loving wife, Norah (Bowes) Sinclair, his son, Timothy Sinclair and his grandson, Cody Crook.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm at Oromocto Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life at the Oromocto Legion on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 2-4 pm, where Rabbit will one last time head to the Legion on a Friday to have a toast with his friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John Wood Foundation.
