Regret to report the passing of Jim MacNeil on Tuesday in Berwick, NS.
Believe Jim served with our First Battalion.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim on July 12, at Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, NS. Born in Middleton, November 20, 1943, he was the son of the late John and Florence (Powell) MacNeill. Jim joined the Military and served in the Black Watch. After leaving the Military he went to Windsor, Ontario, where he met Annie. They married and started a family. In 1975, they moved to NS, where they opened a restaurant and operated it for several years until fire destroyed it. Jim also owned and operated an antique store where he bought and sold gold, silver, etc. He loved bartering and conversing with people. He also had his cook’s license and worked at the Base in Greenwood and Cornwallis. He loved to play golf and also lawn-bowled where he represented Nova Scotia in the Canadian Nationals. He was a member of the Lions Club and was King Lion in 1978. Jim was also a Legion member for many years where he played pool and worked in the kitchen cooking meals and loved the comradeship of fellow members. He decided to go back to school to get his grade 12 and in 1995 graduated. He led a full life until ill health overtook his activities.

Jim’s family came first to him and he enjoyed his grandchildren to the fullest and also his friends. Left to mourn are Anne, and their children, Sherry (Greg), Jimmy (Heike), Shawn; grandchildren, Jason, Corey and Kevin; brother, Jack and his immediate family. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Ariane and sister, Ruth. Many thanks go to the entire staff at Windsor Elms Village, the dialysis Unit in Berwick and the many doctors involved in his care. Cremation has taken place under the Care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown. A visitation will be held 7-9pm, Thursday July 14. A legion service and funeral service being held 2 pm, Friday July 15, both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown.
