McLAUGHLIN, Pte. Alyre Joseph "Gordon Mac" 14 Years, 1 Month ago  
— Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away February 20, 2010, at the age of 81, after a long illness surrounded by his family in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born April 9, 1928, in Sumary Parish, Goulchester, N.B., he was a son of the late Leonard and Alice (Breau) McLaughlin. He was a member of the Merchant Navy for five years. He served in the Black Watch Battallion - RCR from 1951 to 1973 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a past member of Somme Branch Royal Canadian Legion after his retirement. He worked several jobs and his hobby was carving with his pocket knife. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Gray (Sanford) McLaughlin; brothers, Leonard and Harvey. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Bernice (Bundy-Hamilton) McLaughlin and his daughters, Sandra (Brian) Bourn, Dartmouth; Leona (Donald) Ross, Gore; Monique, Windsor; sons, Mark (Donna), Sackville; Glen (Jaunita), Sackville. Gordie is also survived by his sister, Estelle (Harry) Greenburg, Montreal; and grandchildren, David, Darren, Dawn and Brianna. He also leaves behind five stepchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and a godson. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 12-2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with a reception following the service. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 4 Eastwood in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building. Donations can be made to Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII.
