FRASER, J.R.L. (John) 15 Years, 5 Months ago
John Fraser FRASER, John Ronald Lincoln It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our precious Husband and Father, John Ronald Lincoln Fraser (PAPA). John passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Saturday September 13, 2008, at the age of 71. John is survived by his wife Marjorie, children John (Molly), Debbie (Jim) Anders, Cathy (Lorne) Compton, Julie (Kerry) Smith, Bill (Kathy), Vincent (Brenda), Tammy (Bob) Jones, Cindy (Greg) Zwicker and Denise (Darrin) Kennedy, 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and sisters Sarah Elizabeth (Sissy) and Marnie (Mark) Honiberg. John is predeceased by his father John William of Trenton, Nova Scotia, mother Eileen Dorothea of Springhill, Nova Scotia and Grandson Trevor (TJ) of Edmonton. Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia and raised in Trenton, Nova Scotia, John proudly served his country for 27 years as a member of the Black Watch and as a Military Policeman. Upon retiring from the Military he joined the Corp of Commissionaires, where he worked until his illness prevented it. John was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Friend. His heart was huge, his conviction strong and his impact great. He believed there was good in everyone and always sought to prove it. Over the years he touched many. He believed in our young people, loved to coach hockey and could always be found volunteering at youth dances. He loved to fish and tend his garden. John believed in humour and fun and loved nothing more than playing with the little ones, no matter how tired. He was the ultimate PAPA. John loved a good joke and was known for his story telling. While he will certainly be missed, his love of life and family and ability to always look on the bright side, will be with us forever. A Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Fort Saskatchewan on Thursday 18 September 2008, at 2:00 p.m., followed by Internment at the Fort Saskatchewan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.mem.com . In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society. Please God forgive our silent tear, A fervent wish our father was here, There are others yes we know, But he was ours we loved him so, Dear God take a message to our Father in Heaven above, Tell him how much we miss him and give him all of our Love. First Memorial Funeral Services - Riverview Chapel (780) 998-9898

John was a long term member of 2nd Battalion
