Black Watch Friends:

Regret to report the passing of Allan Strong this past week in Oromocto.
Allan served with 2nd Black Watch (‘C’ Company) in Germany, Gagetown and Cyprus. Prior to his retirement in 1992 he was employed in the WO & Sergeants’ Mess in Gagetown.

MCpl Allan Strong (Retired)

It is with great sadness that the family of MCpl Allan Strong (Retired) announces his death on October 5, 2017, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born July 25, 1937, he was the son of Doris Strong and the late Wilfred Strong.

It was in July of 1954, at the age of 17, when Allan joined the military. While serving, Allan worked in the 3rd Battalion Canadian Guards, the Black Watch and 2 RCR. He retired as a Master Corporal in 1992.

Allan is survived by his sons, Stephen, Scott and Kevin Strong, all of Burton, NB; brothers, Merlin (Violet) of NS and Nick (Carol-Ann) Strong of Shoal Harbour, NL; sisters, Linda (Monty) MacEwen of ON, and Cindy Strong of Shoal Harbour, NL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his wife, Frances (McIntyre); 3 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law.
There will be no visitation or service by request. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Allan’s memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Lung Association.

With thanks to Earl Graves for the foregoing.
