Black Watch Friends:
Regret to report the recent passing of Dick Wall in Sydney, NS.
Have precious little information about the deceased except, as indicated in his obituary below, that he served with our 1st Battalion in Germany.

Richard Michael Wall
Born: May 3rd, 1939
Passed on: July 30th, 2017

Richard passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones on July 30, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Born May 3, 1939 he was the son of the late William and Rita Wall. Richard was a veteran who served over 50 years in the military. He served overseas with the Black Watch 1st Battalion until it disbanded. He continued his military career in Calgary as a warrant officer until his retirement. The Military was his life and he was filled with pride whenever he talked about his life in the military family. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 138 and was very passionate about the Poppy Campaign.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Bill) Walsh, Kentville and Rita Wall (Calgary); four grandchildren, Zack and Sofie (Walsh), Jason and Justin Gillies; sisters, Sr. Mary Terrance, West Virgina, Joan (Raymond) Boudreau, Brenda (John), Boston, Mary Gibson, Kentville and Pamela (Austin) Langlois; brothers, Lorne (Sandra), Clyde River, John (Beverly) Wall, Toronto, Bobby (Candice), BC and Earl (Darlene), Sydney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step-father, Robert Sampson; brother, Charlie, Billy (Lucy), and sister, Shirley (Tommy).
The family would like to thank the staff of 4A and CCU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Doctor Paul Macdonald, Doctor Archibald and Doctor Naqvi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Online condolences may be made to the family at
With thanks to Tony McNeil, Charlie Bond, Laurie Dirks and Ray MacDonald for the foregoing.
