Stanley Whynot passed away peacefully at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Wednesday, January 28th, 2015 at the age of 84. Born in Wolfville, NS on November 14th, 1930, he was the son of the late Arthur and Gladys (nee Jessop) Whynot.

Stan was the dedicated husband of Margaret (nee Connolly) Whynot of Oromocto; wonderful father of Judith O'Donnell (Harry), Brenda Taylor (Richard), Robert Whynot (Wendy), and Jennifer Tarrant (Scott); and grampy of seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Arthur and Gladys, Stan was predeceased by his sister, Irene Hiltz (nee Whynot).

Stan was a proud career soldier having spent over 30 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a Korean War veteran who went on to serve with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2RCHA), Princess Louise Fusilliers (PLF), Royal Highland Company 2nd Batallion Black Watch (2RHC), Royal Canadian Regiment (2RCR), RSS Staff Atlantic Aldershot NS, Field Mobile GP CTC Gagetown and Infantry School CTC Gagetown.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, February 6th, 2015 from 6-8 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service beginning at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, February 7th, at 11 am with Fr. Antonio Reyes as celebrant. Interment will be in Oromocto Pioneer Gardens in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stan's memory can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation.
