We received the following from the Honorary Colonel:

As an eternal optimist, I have registered for the Half-Marathon in the Army Run, being held in Ottawa on September 18, 2011.

I think it would be a great occasion in the lead-up to our 150th Celebrations to make a bit of a Black Watch event of it. Therefore, please consider this as a personal invitation from the Honorary Colonel to all members of the Regiment, and the Regimental Family, to join him in the half-marathon of the Annual Army Run in Ottawa this September. I would be grateful if you could provide wide dissemination of this invitation.

You know, we have seen only a few Black Watch names on the Army Run list for Sep in Ottawa. Hope that there will be more names going on but you cannot leave it too late or there will not be any room. For the race kit pkg you receive a shirt that has "Army Run 2011" on it, a number for your shirt and tag that goes on your running shoe that confirms your timing. at the end of the race you receive a metal dog tag that again has "Army Run 2011" on it and of course the money you pay gives you not only that but the satisfaction that you are helping the Soldier On fund (which helps our wounded) as well as the Military Family Fund. Great causes all! Then you get to meet some great people, have a lovely run/walk along the Rideau Canal and then get free beer from our Honorary Colonel! What more could you ask for? Hope to see more names on the site - let's make it a Black Watch Army Run!!!!
