| Proposed 2012 Battlefield Tour |
The TBWA is acting as coordinator for a battlefield tour of the WW1 and 2 sites in Europe with a focus on our regimental involvement. This tour will proceed ONLY if there is a minimum of 30 people interested. This is mandatory to support the costs quoted.
The Facts: - Research has confirmed that the most economical time to mount this tour would be in the European Spring of 2012 - Doing the same tour in the Fall and certainly in the summer would change the price quoted below by close to 70% - The dates tabled are: Sat 25 FEB - Sun 04 MAR 2012 - The weather should not be a discouraging factor. European weather is considerably milder than Canada's during the same period and the many sites we shall visit are unencumbered by holiday crowds. - If the weather is a stumbling block, then this tour may not be for you because it is not a "kick back and relax" tour. We are in effect taking the same tour that is offered to Cadets at RMC but completely made up of Black Watch and friends of Black Watch members. - The schedule dictates that you would be up and on the bus at 0800 and with a break for coffee in the morning and afternoon along with a 30 minute lunch break, the tour would continue each day until 1700 hours. - Major (retired) Mike Boire will conduct this tour. He has done this and still does this as part of his job at RMC. - For a complete itinerary, open the attached word document - "Itinerary Battlefield Tour 2012"
